  • 3/4 pound extra lean ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 (15-ounce) can chopped stewed tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 (15-ounce) can pinto beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef with minced garlic and chopped onion in a large saucepan over medium heat for about 10 minutes until the meat is cooked through.
  2. Add chopped stewed tomatoes, beef broth, chili powder, cumin, oregano, and cayenne pepper. Stir and reduce heat to low.
  3. Cover and let simmer for one hour, stirring occasionally.
  4. Fold in rinsed pinto beans and salt; cook for an additional 15 minutes.
