  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup beef or vegetable broth

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef or turkey for about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Transfer the meat to a slow cooker and add kidney beans, black beans, crushed tomatoes, onion, garlic, bell pepper, chili powder, salt, pepper, cumin, paprika, and broth. Stir well.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours or high for 3 hours.
  4. About 30 minutes before serving, taste and adjust seasonings if necessary.
  5. Serve hot in bowls with desired garnishes.
