  • 3/4 cup + 2 tbsp Dutch-process cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup black cocoa powder (or more Dutch-process cocoa)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 large eggs (or chia eggs)
  • 1 1/2 cups milk (or dairy-free alternative)
  • 3/4 cup olive oil (or vegetable oil)
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons boiling water
  • 24 ounces full-fat cream cheese (or vegan alternative)
  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 3/4 cups powdered sugar (or more if you like)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt
  • orange gel food coloring
  • 2 cups mini vegan marshmallows

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven and grease cake pans.
  2. Mix dry ingredients in one bowl and wet ingredients in another, then combine them without overmixing.
  3. Slowly add boiling water to the batter and divide it among prepared pans.
  4. Bake until a toothpick comes out clean; cool completely.
  5. Prepare the frosting by beating cream cheese and butter, then gradually add powdered sugar.
  6. Layer the cakes with frosting and create a spiderweb design using melted vegan marshmallows on top.
